REHAMNA
Which an original Arabic tribe came for a very long time ago from Yemen and they called themselves REHMNA due to the name of their grandfather ABDURRAHMEN, after running from wars and chaos they settle down in Morocco, exactly in the region of EL HUZ which include Marrakesh BEN GUERIR and KALAAT SERAGHNA, and then from this tribe comes out other tribes such OUALD BOUSEBAA and H’MAR SHIADMA… For the history of the REHAMNA rug it was known for it’s techniques of weaving and colors which remains until nowadays, to weave a REHAMNA rug they use the goat hair in the chain because of it’s texture and strength these technique was grabbed from their own nomadic legacy, and by using the goat hair they add the sheep wool in in the Berber way (hand knot), with this mix of the nomadic Arabic style the Berber, women managed to give a charming look to their REHAMNA rugs, so in the rug you find the sides made out of the goat hair in a draw as a saw or shark teeth? In the center you find the draws of their own symbols and one of few tribes who puts personages in the rug. And the most used color is the red which is the principal color also you can find pink green purple orange etc… also for the symbols the diamond shape is the most common symbol between the ladies which is a symbol of protection from the evil eye. And for the REHAMNA rug is known by the draw of the river that can be seen in the rug as a straight line or zigzag that symbol is a represent of the OUM RBEE river.
